The Federal Government is extending the “bridging aid” (Überbrückungshilfe) until September 30, 2021 as “Überbrückungshilfe III Plus”. You can submit your application by October 31st 2021.

Who can apply for funding? Companies, self-employed people and freelancers with an annual turnover of up to 750 million euros in 2020 as well as start-ups founded by October 31st 2020, non-profit companies, church-based companies and organizations from all industries.
Only companies with a turnover decrease of at least 30% in the period from July to September 2021 are eligible to apply for the aid.

How much can be funded? The maximum funding amount is 10 million euros per month. Provided that all state aid requirements are complied with, Bridging Aid III and Bridging Aid III Plus can support a total of up to 52 million euros.

The “Restart Bonus” („Restart-Prämie“) is new. According to this, companies that are taking staff out of short-time work or hiring new ones in connection with the reopening can apply for a subsidy for staff costs (Personalkostenhilfe). The companies receive a grant of 60 percent on the difference between the actual personnel costs in the funding month of July 2021 and the personnel costs in May 2021. In August 2021, the subsidy is 40 percent and in September 20 percent. After September 2021, no more subsidies will be granted.

The restart aid for self-employed people will be increased to up to EUR 1,500 per month for the months of June 2021 to September 2021. Self-employed people can apply for up to EUR 12,000 for a new start from January 2021 to September 2021.
