Living together. Living better.

The Green Pass (named digital COVID-Zertifikat der EU in Germany), not to be confused with the digital vaccination certificate, is a free certificate, either in paper or digital format, designed to allow safe travel within the EU, even during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since July 1st, the Green Pass proves that you either
were vaccinated against Covid-19
have recovered from Covid-19
have very recently tested negative to a Covid-19 test.

The digital version can be saved on a mobile device, but a paper version can be requested too. Both versions have a QR code containing key information and a signature to confirm the authenticity of the certificate.

The COVID-Zertifikat is available in your respective national language and in English. It is valid in all EU member states, as well as in Iceland, Liechtenstein and in Norway.

If you live in Germany, the German national authorities are the ones responsible to issue it. You can either use the CovPass-App or the Corona-Warn-App to prove your status through a simple QR code. Not only the data about your vaccination, but also information about your recovery or a negative test result are stored in these apps in the forms of QR codes.

The Green Pass only contains the information that is absolutely necessary, no personal data, including all health data, are passed on to the authorities of the countries you travel to.

Although the Green Pass has been designed to make traveling easier, it is not strictly required: traveling is also possible without it. In this case, you need to check the requirements of the countries you are traveling from and traveling to.
