Living together. Living better.

The Egal-Wohin initiative, the result of a collaboration between Edeka and Deutsche Bahn, allows people to travel on any train within Germany for the price of EUR 39.90 during a period from 6 July 2022 to 9 December 2023.

Underlying this initiative, which is aimed at the entire population, is the desire to revive public transport in Germany as a cheaper solution than private transport. Indeed, routes that today have to be travelled for over a hundred euros are included in the ticket price.

In addition, there is also the ecological character of the initiative: the dissemination of such a ticket could in fact be able to revive the use of public transport on a national scale, thus avoiding an excessive expenditure of energy resources.

Such a coupon guarantees anyone the right to travel for a single journey in second class, not only on all regional trains, but also on any ICE and IC/EC long-distance trains, making these journeys a valid alternative to car journeys and creating a more viable alternative to the nine-euro ticket, which had its criticalities and limitations that can be overcome.

From 1 August, it will be possible to buy the coupon at all Edeka supermarkets in the country and at other shops belonging to the same chain such as Marktkauf, Budni, Nah & Gut and Trinkgut.

The functioning of the Egal-Wohin-Ticket is very simple: at the time of purchase, the customer receives a promotion code, which they must then enter when booking their journey on the Deutsche Bahn website, //www.bahn.de/ . Please note that the booking code must be redeemed at least two days before the start of the journey. If you wish to reserve an additional seat, you can do so for a fee.

It will be possible to redeem the coupons until 30 June 2023, however, it will be possible to book journeys taking place by 9 December 2023.
